Matt Carroll

Matt Carroll has been in radio for over 25 years, which is roughly the same amount of time he’s been trying (and failing) to work out the buttons on a studio desk. He first started in radio back in the late 90s, when Britpop was still cool and dial-up internet noises were a thing. Since then, he’s graced more studios than most people have had hot dinners — mainly because he keeps getting locked out of his own.

Over the years, Matt’s career has been a rollercoaster of funny mishaps and memorable moments. He once interviewed a pop star live on air, only to realise halfway through it wasn’t actually the pop star, but their very confused tour manager. He’s been known to play the same song three times in a row (on purpose, he claims), and he once did an entire show wearing slippers because he forgot his shoes at home.

Listeners have described Matt as “the mate you’d happily have a brew with”, though his colleagues describe him as “the bloke most likely to eat the last biscuit in the office”.

Despite the chaos, one thing has always been true: Matt knows how to put a smile on your face. Whether it’s his Dad Joke of the Day, his knack for accidentally oversharing embarrassing personal stories, or his ability to turn even the dullest news item into comedy gold, Matt is guaranteed to make your Sunday mornings brighter.

When he’s not behind the mic, Matt can be found shouting at his TV during quiz shows, claiming he “definitely would’ve got that one right.” He also insists he’s a master of DIY — although his last project, a “floating” shelf, floated straight off the wall within 48 hours.

So, tune in every Sunday from 10am to 1pm, when Matt Carroll brings you Famous Tunes, Big Sounds, and Zero Fillers… along with a few unplanned detours that make live radio what it is.
