Nifty UK Radio wasn't created because Greater Manchester needed another radio station.
It was created because we believed it deserved a better one.
A station that plays the songs people genuinely love. A station that speaks to its community. A station where presenters are encouraged to be themselves, not squeezed into a corporate mould. A station that puts listeners before playlists and personality before playlists generated by a computer.
That's the station we set out to build.
Today, Nifty UK Radio broadcasts across Greater Manchester on DAB, online and through smart speakers, bringing together an incredible team of experienced broadcasters, passionate music lovers and larger-than-life personalities who all share one thing in common – a genuine love of great radio.
Built by People Who Love Radio
Nifty UK Radio was founded by lifelong friends and broadcasting enthusiasts Alan Nield, Tony Taylor and Simon Walker.
Between them, they have spent decades working in radio, media and business, but Nifty UK Radio has always been more than just another project. It's the station they always wanted to listen to themselves.
Building a radio station from scratch isn't easy. It takes determination, resilience and more than a few sleepless nights. There have been challenges, setbacks and moments where giving up might have seemed the easier option.
But every obstacle has only strengthened the belief that local radio still matters.

Our playlist crosses decades and genres because great music doesn't fit neatly into categories. We don't believe listeners should have to either.

We believe great presenters don't need to shout the loudest.
They simply need to be themselves.
That's why every voice on Nifty UK Radio brings something different. From Jay McCreary helping you wake up, to Big Al's opinions and banter with Producer Tim, Owen Sherratt's laid-back afternoons, Kevin Lee driving you home, Gavin Reeves' wonderfully warped evenings and Simon Walker rounding off the day, every presenter is encouraged to sound like a real person—not a scripted one.
At weekends, Steve "Crummers" Crumley, Mike Wallbank, Tim Fernley, Matt Carroll, Scott Woodhead, Ella and Scarlett keep the music flowing with the same warmth, humour and passion that runs through the station every single day.
